How We Become What We Think About
Have you ever wondered why some people achieve success while others do not? You may wonder what they do differently to make them successful.
What is the secret blueprint that sets them apart from everyone else? If this resonates with you, in this article, we will discuss how we become what we think about to succeed in life.
I aim to present ideas that can transform your mind and help you start living a more successful and fulfilling life. The key points we will discuss include:
- Clarify who you want to be
- Align your goals with your aspirations
- Remove self-limiting beliefs
- Be intentional with your actions
- Visualize your success
- Believe and achieve
Let’s get started!
Clarify who you want to be
A first step towards achieving success is clarifying who you aspire to be. Clarity of knowing what you want helps you gain focus on how to establish a path to reach your goals.
How do you gain clarity, you might ask? Great question!
Clarity can be gained by meditating and reflecting on what brings you joy.
Often we forget what brings us joy by being distracted by events that overshadow our life—raising a family, caring for others, or being super busy with different activities.
Focusing on what matters deep inside will open up ideas and questions you can explore to change your life. For example:
- Do you enjoy caring for people?
- Do you like building or creating things?
- Do you enjoy cooking or teaching?
- What is the one thing you would do if money were not an issue?
- What gives you energy and makes you feel alive when talking about it with others?
When you discover your passion for doing something you enjoy, do not be afraid to explore seeking it.
Whatever you feel drawn to may also be seeking you. A famous quote is, “Energy flows where attention goes.”
Align your goals with your aspirations.
Once you clarify what brings you joy, consider taking steps to achieve what you want in life.
For example, if you desire to be a chef, become a teacher, or start a business, research to understand what may be involved in getting started. Think of this as creating a garden. You are preparing the soil for planting seeds.
As you begin to research, please write down your goals to help you establish steps to reach them. Then, focus on pursuing these goals and make it a habit to look at them consistently to motivate you to change.
Writing down your goals and focusing on obtaining them will awaken your subconscious to be alert to opportunities aligning with your goals.
Remove self-limiting beliefs
As a child, you may have had a vivid imagination. You could be a superhero, an astronaut, a doctor, or just about anything you could conceive in your mind.
However, as you age, outside influences from others may affect your thinking. For example, you may have heard someone saying, “You can not do that,” or “You are not good at a particular subject.”
These are examples of limiting beliefs that hinder you from seeking success for yourself. Stop letting others define you and what you can accomplish to avoid this mindset.
Instead, develop your mind with beliefs of achieving success, becoming the person you aspire to be, and who God created you to be.
Be intentional in your actions.
Fear of failure and moving into the unknown are reasons people stay where they are.
When fear paralyzes you to the point you stop growing and developing, it can cause stagnation and generate a sense of unhappiness.
However, it does not have to be this way. Instead, you can intentionally focus on changing your life to improve.
Now, it does not always happen immediately or overnight. As you see, change is a process that starts within and may take time.
The change process starts with being intentional in your actions.
Change is about living beyond your comfort zone and becoming comfortable with being uncomfortable in your quest to grow and develop as a person.
It involves changing behaviors, surrounding yourself with people to help you grow, and learning new information.
Visualize your success
When looking at athletes who train for a particular sport, there is a process that many use to prepare for games. This process involves visualizing their success before it happens.
The athletes visualize competing successfully, and they practice this over and over in their minds. But, unfortunately, when you see them win at their sport, we often only see the result of their success.
However, the combination of hard work and visualization is a significant blueprint they use.
This blueprint can also be applied to business and any aspect of your life.
Each day, visualize yourself being the person you desire to be. Let visualization become a natural part of what you think about consistently as you pursue the goals you have in mind.
Believe and achieve
The final and most crucial part of becoming what you think involves using faith to grow.
A favorite scripture I have turned to regarding faith is Matthew 9:29. Jesus says, “According to your faith be it unto you.”
In this life journey, we walk by faith, not by sight.
The only person who can hold you back is yourself. To achieve success, have faith and trust God to help you.
So, please do not be afraid to take that step to pursue and achieve your dreams. Think about who you want to become and let this motivate you to develop into a better you.
